Your data, in plain English.

Great British Holidays (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent online marketplace where private owners of caravans located at Butlins Skegness advertise their caravans for hire. This site is operated from the United Kingdom and is not affiliated with Butlins™.

For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, we act as the data controller for the personal data we collect through this site. You can contact us at info@greatbritishholiday.co.uk.

From caravan advertisers: name, email address, phone number, home postal address (used to verify you are a genuine advertiser and to help resolve disputes), password (encrypted), the caravan listing details you post (title, description, photos, plot number, contact preferences, availability), and payment information (handled by Stripe — we never see full card numbers).

Your home postal address is never shown publicly on the site. It is visible only to the site's administrators for verification purposes and, if required, may be shared with the police or another lawful authority in the event of fraud or a serious dispute.

From holidaymakers submitting enquiries: name, email address, phone number (optional), requested check-in/check-out dates, number of guests, and the message you send to the advertiser.

Automatically: basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) via standard web-server logs, used only for security and improving the site.

• To create and manage advertiser accounts and listings.
• To forward enquiries from holidaymakers to the relevant caravan advertiser (name, email, phone, dates, message).
• To send administrative emails (account confirmations, payment receipts, listing status updates).
• To send you a silent copy of enquiries as the platform operator, so we can help resolve disputes if asked.
• To verify advertiser identity (including verifying home address) before approving a listing, in order to protect holidaymakers from fraud.
• To comply with our legal obligations (accounting, tax, fraud prevention).

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

Only the following trusted service providers, and only for the purposes above:

• Stripe — payment processing for listing fees. Stripe's privacy policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Resend's privacy policy.
• Emergent — hosting, database and file storage infrastructure.
• The caravan advertiser — when you send an enquiry, your details are shared with the advertiser so they can reply directly.

We will only disclose data to other parties if we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

• Advertiser accounts and listings: as long as your account is active, plus 6 years for accounting/tax records after your last transaction.
• Holidaymaker enquiries: 24 months after the enquiry is made, then deleted.
• Server logs: 30 days.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct any data that is inaccurate.
• Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
• Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.
• Data portability (get your data in a machine-readable format).
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis.
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.

We use only strictly-necessary cookies (to keep you logged in and to remember your session). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. Photos and files are stored in encrypted object storage.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page and, where appropriate, emailed to registered advertisers.
